EXTENSIONS
The
State of Mato Grosso offers four fascinating and unique destinations
for tourism. Let Floresta Tour Agency arrange your entire tour with
an English speaking guide.
The Meridional Amazon
Rainforest in the northern part of the State of Mato
Grosso is an example of unflooded, terra firme forest. A transitional
area between the flooded forests in the north and the higher savannah
region, it is an area containing one of the greatest biodiversities
in the entire Amazon Basin. This is where the Cristalino Lodge
is situated, and is considered a world-class destination for birders,
butterfliers and nature lovers.
The
Chapada dos Guimarães,
in the savannah region, combines transitional gallery forests
and the higher elevation cerrado biome. It is an ideal destination
for trekking, birdwatching and spiritual tours. It is an area
of beautiful waterfalls, canyons, small rivers and magnificent
vistas.
The Pantanal,
near Cuiabá. This is a unique ecosystem renowned for its spectacular
concentrations of birds and mammals. It is popular amongst wildlife
lovers and photographers alike. There are a variety of accommodation
options and also tours suitable for the clients' different interests:
wildlife viewing, adventure tourism, photography and catch-and-release
sport fishing.

MATO GROSSO |
Pantanal, Chapada. |
With a name derived from the Portuguese for 'thick jungle', Mato Grosso, the third largest state in |
Brazil, is the divisor between three huge river basins, and the setting for an impressive meeting |
of three important biomes – the Amazon, Pantanal and the Cerrado. |
The state boasts the Amazon Rain Forest , including seasonally inundated “igapo” forest and dry “terra firme forest”- the best place |
to see birds, mammals and innumerable insects including many exquisite butterflies; the Pantanal – the world's largest wetland where the wildlife is easily observed ; and the cerrado tableland around Chapada dos Guimarães. Combining these localities on one tour |
gives an opportunity to see completely different landscapes with their assorted animals and plant communities within a small geographical area. |
